Precaución Bicicleta

Spanish speakers in Los Angeles ride bikes more than other groups, and also suffer disproportionately from traffic injuries.* To create safer streets for everyone, the Los Angeles County Bicycle CoalitionCity of Lights Program in partnership with the Los Angeles Department of TransportationBikeways and several community groups created a pioneering bicycle safety public awareness campaign in Spanish consisting of bus shelter posters and a video PSA. You can read about the unique grassroots process at LACBC, and the campaign on Streetsblog. My artwork was selected to illustrate the campaign slogan:

PRECAUCIÓN: Tu Familia También Usa La Bicicleta

CAUTION: Your Family Also Rides a Bicycle

Bicycle Typogram — Mini Prints

Mini… mini… miniature… Letterpressed miniature prints are type-high. The first spoils from a foray into the realm of pressed letters. Known in the art as broadsides, these are a little less broad, so they are mini prints here, all crisply pressed with the best non-toxic rubber inks on Fabriano Medioevalis cards. Fabriano has been making paper like

Bicycle Typogram — T-Shirt 1

The T-Shirt. Now with a Bicycle Typogram printed upon it. Study those components on the move.     For safety, the left shoulder of this bright white shirt is emblazoned with a 4″ diameter AARLINE logo capable of reflecting up to 675 cd/lux/m2 of dazzling white light, in compliance with ANSI Class 2 high-visability warning clothing standards.

Bicycle Typogram — Edition 5 — Color Harmony

Color… color… color… some live and some die for a color. Will you cry out for a color, at least open your eyes to these colors?. Think now, will you buy now that color… color… color? The value of gold, is in your mind. Will you eat, though bold, that fluorescent orange? Can you stop

Bicycle Typogram — Edition 3 — Fluorescing

3… 3… 3… The Bicycle Typogram is now printed in 3 colors. A limited edition of 33 prints, hand pulled by me, Aaron Kuehn, as museum quality art specifically for custom framing (to protect the delicate chemistry from the ravages of our harsh planet, and make the formal viewing experience more profound). This edition is

Bicycle Typogram — Printed

Print…print…print. The Bicycle Typogram (original graphic here) is printed. Card, flood, print, pull, dry. Each impression represents a unique moment in time. Registration E tabs, press micro-adjustments, stencil-restricted ink deposits, attempts to make each moment an exact replica — the tick tock of a perfect clock. But perfection is not easily reproduced. {click image for
